K. Devan quits as Selangor coach

KUALA LUMPUR Sept. 20 - K. Devan has quit as coach of Selangor.

He handed in his resignation letter yesterday following Selangor’s dismal showing this season.

FA of Selangor (FAS) secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Amin, when contacted, confirmed Devan had resigned as coach.

He said FA’s executive committee which deliberated the matter yesterday agreed to let Devan go.

He added that assistant coach P.Maniam would be taking over the coach”s duties.

Selangor, considered Malaysia’s soccer giant, have failed to win any silverware so far this year.

Their performance took a turn for the worse in the ongoing Malaysia Cup, even losing to club side T-Team 1-2 in a Group D macth on Sunday.

Devan took over as coach of Selangor in October 2008. Under him, Selangor won the Super League title last year and the FA Cup and Sultan Ahmad Shah Cup in 2009. - Bernama
