Zandra hopes to add a SEA games gold to her collection

KUALA LUMPUR Aug 8 — National champion Zandra Aziela Ibrahim Hakimi who lifted the Malaysian Open in May, will be hoping to add the 2011 Indonesia SEA Games gold medal to her collection.

Zandra Aziela, 25, hoping to feature in her third SEA Games that will be held from Nov 11-25, has decided to keep training despite the fasting month, to achieve her dream.

"It is indeed my dream to represent the country at the SEA Games and I am eagerly looking forward to it since bowling is not included in the Olympics,” she told Bernama here today.

Zandra Aziela who is now in the ranks of the country”s elite bowlers said she was training with six others under coach Holloway Cheah.

“However, the six bowlers will only be named in October after the coach makes the selection,” she said.

"We will be competing in two tournaments, namely the Women”s World Championship in Hong Kong (Sept 3-12) and Kuala Lumpur Open (Oct 22-29) before the SEA Games.

"We can gauge our performances through the two tournaments before heading to Indonesia.” Malaysia won four gold medals through the women”s doubles, women”s trio, women”s team and mixed doubles plus three silver and six bronze medals at the Korat SEA Games in 2007.

However, bowling was not included in the 2009 Laos SEA Games.
